Default Is Autothority in VA a good shop? Hondata Install & Dyno tune.

Can anyone comment on their experiences with Autothority in Fairfax, VA?

or ??

I know they're expensive, but if they can do the work right the first time, it may be worth it. (Their website's message board's slow as a turd too).

Thanks!

I have heard of a few kids from a crew called "Eurasia" getting work done there. They had nothing but good things to say about it. However you may want to go to SGT because he is easily accessable from this board and has been very helpful when I talked to him. He is also located in NO-VA and he has a great group buy for hondata going on..... check him out.

i was also thinking about taking my car to Autothority to tune hondata. They are pricey but they do do top quality work.

SGT does tune hondata but i believe he does so in richmond which is a drive from Autothority area.

Autothority is WAY too overpriced... you could try Altered Atmosphere up between Rockville and Gaithersburg...

I thought about Autothority too.... for tunning purposes... but like most shops they're over priced . So I'm doing my research here.

I've heard nothing but good things about "Altered Atmospere", in fact, my brother brings his MKIV Supra TT there. They specialize in Supras and 3000 GT's though. I'm not sure how much work they do with our little 4-bangers

Altered tuned my car once, but I felt blown off by the tuner (he would disappear fro 15 minutes at a time)... but I had my car tuned two weekends ago there by my mechanic James from CDE... and I had his full and undivided attention...

sgT = Sakai Garage and Tune .. is also a moderator on this board.

Steve's getting my business soon, already in on the Hondata group buy.
And, it seems that he uses the Rosen Autosport dyno in Richmond.

I could have sworn the S in SGT stood for something else

When I was at Autothority they seemed to be really good. Now I didn't see it in action but a Nitrous supercharged GSR can't be concidered slow. Everyone there knows what they are talkin about. they may cost more but I would rather pay more money to have poo poo done right then have everything put on the car with twisty ties. Autothorities 993 Porsche mods haven't been featured in tuner and regular car magazines because they suck. Every car I saw there was the sweet and the Supercharged VR6 that they tuned while I was there was aboslutely Nutty!!

I have no doubt their mechanics are good... in fact, I know they are exceptional. But I don't care how good you are, you can't charge twice as much as everyone else, especially when there are other mechanics in this area that are just as good (if not better)... 'nuff said...

I mainly go to richmond because Rosen Autosport charges 75/hr for the use of their dyno.
If you would like me to tune your car for you we can go wherever you would
like. There are a few dynos in NoVA/Rockville area so the choices are there.
its just a matter of how much you are comfortable paying.

To clear up some things, I live in Stafford, VA but I work in DC and i am almost
always in the NoVA area.

If you would like me to tune your car, feel free to email or give me a call.
The only catch is, I DO have a day job, so tuning is pretty much only on
weekends.

Umm while this may be true of Honda-Acura (havnt seen any of their cars on the track), they did have a Porsche that was featured in Road and Track I believe as one of the top 5 cars in the nation in their "Tuner Shootout" or something along those lines (would have to dig up the issue to be sure).

Anyway I got my turbo installed there. Yes they are quite expensive but they also do very good work and stand behind the work they do. At the same time its also fully possible that you could get just as good a job done elsewhere cheaper, just wanted to testify to the fact that Autothority does great work in general.

And I have also heard nothing but good things about Steve Sakai's tuning skills, that would be my choice
