Default How many Greddy turbo owners have converted from an Internal WG to an External WG?

Hey Everybody,

I just wanted to know how many people have converted from an Int. WG to an Ext. WG? I have heard that there is some welding involved, but what exactly needs to be done? are there any good online articles or DSM sites with instructions for this conversion?

TIA

Welding the flapper door for the wastegate shut and tapping an external wastegate into the GReddy unit. Not sure how "worth it" it really is though?

well from what I've heard and read an Internal WG will start to get unreliable past 10-12 PSI. welding the the flapper door shut is all it would take? I don't have to disable the internal WG mechanism or anything?

Being able to boost well past 15 PSI on an external WG with no fear of failure is a good enough reason for me :D

If/When the Greddy Lude kit comes out I'm gonna get the compete kit that will be set at 7 PSI for smog time. But right now I'm also trying to research right now how hard it would be to convert to a setup that will allow me to boost 12-15 PSI safely.

I'm thinking that an extra manifold with the WG conversion, Greddy E-manage to control fuel for 7 PSI and 12-15 PSI, and some 440cc injectors.

I've got the internals pretty much covered so no need to worry about that, I just want an (extra) setup that will give me some good power but still allow me to be CA smog legal with little to change when the time comes.
