I am going to be getting a d16z6 this summer and building it for a turbo setup. Someone told me that when I replace the bearings with new OEM ones, I will need to re-gauge them so they will fit with the old crankshaft.

I am trying to figure out if this is necessary or if it will run fine by just installing them. thanks again

 

When you completey disassemble the block, you can see which color they are. Honda has different ones depending on the color. Then, you can go to Honda and get the same ones for your block.

Or, you can get ACL bearings which are made exactly in the center of the specs. Then, you can plastigauge them to fit properly.

IMO, go Honda.

 

As Dimi said...go to honda.

When you take off the crank you can find out what bearings you need and using the helms manual you can exactly find out what color bearings you need.
