Ls engine help...
I took the head off by b18b1 engine and took it apart. Someone told me that i cannot put the head back together because the wear on the lifter or something must be in specific location. So how to i reuse my ls head. thanks
wear on your lifter? just make sure you lube up the top and bottom of the lifter and it should be good to go.
also make sure you use good assembly lube and oil up your cams when putting them in

I am interested in this too. I have heard that a stock cam lobe and its associated lifter wear in patterns and replacing one or the other can wear them out prematurely.
For example, if you upgrade to new cams with the stock original lifters, will the lifters wear out more quickly?

Haynes and Helms say to keep everything together and not to get it mixed up. They are always overly cautious. As long as you keep all the valves in the right ports and adj. the valves (rocker arms) when you reassemble you will be fine.
If you did remove the valves just use valve lapping compound and re-lap them. Then before you finish the rebuild, put the head on as you would torch it down and do a leak down test.

on LS heads they use a ball and socket type rocker arm. The rocker arm should really go back in the same socket it came out of because all of them wear differently.
I do think this is necessary. Unless there is more than normal wear on the ball or socket. But if it is too late, and they are already mixed up, it will be OK as long a valve lash is adj. Just my 2 cents.
