turbo LS cams?
I've seen a few dynos that showed the ls head starts to drop off in power after 6500-7k rpm. I'm also running a b16 tranny so I'd like to know if turbo ls cams will allow the ls head to make power up toward 8k rpm. I have crower springs/retainers and a Skunk2 intake manifold. Have 404 cams, but might go turbo in the near future. Is a ported head necessary or will just cams help the ls head breathe better?

Re: turbo LS cams? (specie)
I would reccomend having the head ported with the 404s. They are fairly large and the LS head flows poorly. Esp. if you are thinking about going to 8k rpm. I would go for turboing the LS with the 404s in it. Ported head... should make some good numbers.

Rocket has a killer grind for LS... I can't wait to get them in my motor. Ported LS head + RM cams have been sittin in the garage for what feels like forever.
Sigh.

I don't know anything bout the 404s, but the RMs I have are 10.5mm lift / 274 duration@1mm I believe.
I'm waiting on a set of rods/pistons to put the cams in. Gonna get the bottom end a little stronger then just swap the ported head w/ cams on.

not to mention $250 for a pair.

Yup... I distinctly had more hair on my head when I was up there and got to hold them. It's been pretty close to forever... *poke poke*

Re: (J. Davis)
anyone have any dyno sheets with ls turbo cams? I'm running a b16 tranny so I need the powerband to go beyond 7krpm. Is it possible to continue making power about 7krpm with the stock ls head w/ cams. I currently have the crower 404 cams/springs/retainers and the skunk2 intake manifold. I'm just not sure if the 404 cams are too aggressive for a turbo setup.

Re: (specie)
i think you will be fine with the 404s. big cams are good for big turbos with big turbines. the overlap isnt as much of a problem when there isnt a lot of exhaust backpressure, but i would still dial as much of it out as i could. i have a b16 tranny on my ls and i will be using custom billet cams that are slightly bigger than the 404s. good luck!

I talked to rocket himself and he said that they're only good up to 7.8k. I want to make power all the way to 8.2k so these might not do. Does anyone know how much Crower 402T's cost?
no power drop...but I would like my power to keep on climbing if possible
