My friend told me I had black smoke shooting out my tailpipe when I was driving. I was just driving like normal, and when I step on it, I get a cloud of smoke back there. I'm running headers and intake on a h22a4 with 115k miles. The car is running fine and idles just fine. From what I believe, black smoke=fuel? What can be the cause of this? thanks

 

Are you pushing the car? It could be you burning oil or your cat went bad...

 

i push it every so often but I dont stomp on it all the time. I just got the car about 5k ago so I dont know if the smoke has been there. I got it from my bro and he doesnt push the car and gets it tuned one time.

 

I have a 5th gen that's got about 76k on mileage. When I slammed it once and shifted down it did that. My friend said it's normal and that it was just burning a lot of petrol. He was behind me and after it happened the car still functioned normally. Have had a few tranny issues but nothing major...

 

if it's just a small puff of smoke, it's normal

 

mine does it too..along with almost<U></U> every vtec engine.
