1,2,3......3,2,1 (TPS Related)
ls motor/b16 tranny
So my check engine light has been on for awhile due to the tps. This morning however the engine light went off.....awsome right? Nope! So I pull outta the garge and proceed to drive. I dont get more than 100 feet when the car suddenly drops rpms and then jolts back up peeling the tires, all with a steady throttle pressure. With 1 stall I finally make it to school. I check to see if im throwing any codes even though the check engine light is off. Sure enough I am throwing code 7 which I think is tps. So I gently rev the car and it goes up to 3 then drops, then starts back up again and does this over and over again.
So for ***** I take the plug connected to the tps off and the check engine light comes on. So I check the ecu again and still a code 7, but now the light is on!?!? The weird thing is that I try the throttle again and this time it doesnt idle irradically up and down with the light on.
So I figured that if the light is on then the ecu is in safe mode and cornering the problem, but when the light is off the probelm is still there, but with no help from electronics making the car do weird ****.
So my question is code 7=tps right? And why did the light suddenly go off when the ecu is still throwing a code?
Any help will do

I dont know about the rest of you, but I have had to replace the TPS a number of times. Never threw a code, just wasn't working right. Those things seem to break easilly.

Actually you shouldnt be able to just replace the tps due to the emission laws, thus the tps having blank top screws. However if you take a saw blade (which you may have done) to the top of the blank screw, you can saw a groove for a flathead and remove it that way.
So no one has a clue why the ecu would turn the engine light off all of a sudden even though its still throwing a code?
