Default D15B info

Can anyone tell me the specs on this engine? Ie. HP, torque, etc. Will it fit in a 1990 base model civic h/b? What kind of work will need to be done to put it in?

do a search, but jdm d15 has 130 h.p. redline 7200 rpm. you can swap easily but you should convert to obd-1. get obd-0 to obd-1 harness (blownhatch sells them on here, good guy)obd-1 dizzy, and p28 ecu. hope that answered some of your questions. search for more info.

I did a search, and I couldn't find this info: Can anyone tell me all the parts I'll need to purchase to swap this d15b engine into my 1990 base model (4spd) hatchback? Thanks to anyone who helps out

first off you will probably need to convert your car to mpfi cause isnt your base model dpfi.... then you will need to get a p28 ecu, obd1 distributor, obd0-obd1 conversion harness (rywire.com), and you would probably want an si tranny since you have a 4spd, and that pretty much sums it up....

As for mounts, use your stock tranny (or a CRX Si tranny prefered for gearing), thats 3 of 4 mounts... Then pull off the drivers side mount bracket (that goes under the timing cover) once u pull your old engine, and swap the bracket to the new engine... Theres your 4th mount... Pretty simple swap... I did mine myself with little help...

Yea stock harness will work... Only thing that you should need is the connectors for:

VTEC
VTEC oil pressure
Thermoswitch
4wire O2 sensor
OBD1 injectors (not required)

Other than that, they will all plug right in... U will have to relocate a few connectors too, and add wires for VTEC, VTEC pressure switch, and 3 additional wires for the new 4 wire O2...

And u will have a few extra connectors that wont plug into the D15B, I had 2, the single wire O2 (the harness I bought had the connector already) and the speed sensor I think it is...

As for injectors, u can keep using your pre OBDs no problem... But u gotta keep the injector resistor box... If u want to switch to OBD1 injectors, splice (or repin) the OBD1 plugs, and then at the injector resistor box, cut off the green plug and splice all 5 wires together...

So u have a mini me already? If thats the scase then u should be set then... Just a staight up swap... All the stuff should be already wired... Inlcuding the thermoswitch... Its a sensor on your thermostat that at a certain temperature turns on your radiator fans... Mines not even hooked up yet... It was broke...

Yea, great site... But what does that have to do with a D15B VTEC? These engines came from an EG4 (5th gen Civic VTi)...

does anyone have the wiring diagram for dpfi to mpfi and obd0 to obd1? (I really don't fell like paying $270....for some damn harness (s).

My buddy is now telling me that the swap will be too much of a bitch for a 91 civic hatchback - he is telling me to just put the SI 1.6 liter from the same year, says I won't notice a difference between that engine and the d15b.

I want to prove him wrong (he said he will help me with the swap, but he doesn't want to spend "hours" on the wiring)

Well u can either spend hours on wiring, or pay the cost for someone to do it... Its a big tedious job, which is why its so expensive for a converted harness... And your friend is full of **** if he says u wont be able to tell a SOHC non VTEC 108HP engine from a SOHC with VTEC with 125-130HP... VTEC makes all the difference, trust me, I came from the stock Si engine (D16A6)... Its a quick little motor, but theres a big difference compared to the D15B...

Anyways heres the links to mpfi swap:
http://www.angelfire.com/d20/h....html http://www.geocities.com/teampimports/fuelinj.html http://www.geocities.com/c_rexboy/mpfi.html

and obd1 conversiom...
http://geocities.com/chipman_1....html http://www.geocities.com/kurtsi_on/page8.html
And if all else fails:
http://www.google.com/search?h...earch

Good luck!

so i have the motor (d15b) , P08 ecu, obd-0bd1 wiring harness (will convert from dpfi to mpfi), resistor box - will use stock 1 wire o2 sensor (p08 is programed for that...seems odd) but....now my friend is telling me (after looking at the motor) that I need a 92-95 civic drivers side motor mount....

help me out....if I DO need one, anyone know where to get just ONE motor mount (instead of a set)....the pick-n-pull's rarely have 92-95 civics...

No your friend is wrong... What you need to do is... Once you have your old engine pulled... Underneath the timing belt cover, there are 2 bolts, that hold on the engine mount bracket... You have to take that off of your old engine, and put it on the new D15B... This is the correct way, a 5th gen Civic mount wont work...
