Default VAFC 2 v-tec points, help

I have a vafc2 on my 92 gsr right now the stock v-tec settings are to kick in at 5,700 and i put the v-tec to kick in at 5,000 instead of 5,700 and it feels ALOTTT faster, is this bad for my motor or is it just my mind that thinks its faster?( my father even said it feels faster!) LET ME KNOW please

if the b17c is like the b18c1, it should be a 4400 crossover stock... the VAFC's stock setting is not correct for GSRs, 5700 is the ITR crossover point. the reason it feels faster is because it's kicking in after it's supposed to so you get a drop in power and then a boost when it switches - a GSR crossover should be smooth and unnoticable, hence the dual-butterfly intake system.

cliffnotes: put it back to the stock crossover, which i believe is 4400 unless the '92 GSRs are that much different from 94+. and get it dyno tuned (what else do you have on your car to warrant a VAFC?)

Dude you don't know anything about the B17A1, the stock crossover it at 5700, it doesn't have dual-butterfly's like the 94+, and the head and intake is very similar to the B16 and B18c5...

DB'd... get it dyno'd, then you'll be able to see where the power drops off before vtec kicks in...don't mess around to much with the a/f ratio till its dyno'd

btw mines set at 5300 rpm, but I'm using ctr pistons in my b17a

yeah the 92-93 gsr vtec engagement is at 5700.. i had one and i liked it better... i got a b18c1 with ctr cams and the 4400 engagement is too low

Ok, well ill put it back to 5,700 and im getting the car on a dyno on may 28th. Also i might get someone to tune it with a wideband and the laptop. But right now all i have is intake exhaust, cam gears and lightend flywheel. So i dont have BOOST or anything :D, but i do want to advance my air/fuel curves and what not.

right. unless the cams u have in there make the power drop even more if the vtec cam lobe is engaged.... basically do the lesser of two evils sort of thing, you are never going to get a perfect curve

Why do people list cam gears as an engine mod? They do absolutely nothing performance-wise unless you change the cam timing. Then your motor will probably ESAD unless you know what you're doing.

better off letting the tuner do it, because they know what they're doing.
