I have a tunning session planned for tonight and a track day tomorrow. I want to install a different header, but don't have a new gasket for this. Has anyone re-used the exhaust manifold gasket without having issues? I have an 01 lude.

In a few words-DON'T. You will regret this decision in the end. Some manifold gaskets, if new, can be tortured this way and others cannot.

 

Does the lude have a two layer steel gasket?

EDIT: I searched. it is.

its more than two layers...

 

i have the orignal from 93 on mine. its been on and off my engines 30 times. i am boosted also and no leaks. your good to go

 

It's a 3 layer copper gasket, you can reuse it to your hearts content, as long as you don't damage it while removing or reinstalling.

 

if you torque the **** out of it it wont leak on you, but next time you will be pulling the studs out of the head to get the damn thing off....

a new one is only like 20 bucks dude....

 

I know it's cheap, but i couldn't get one on Monday and tuesday morning I had a track day. It was either re-use the gasket, or not install the header.

I installed the header and re-used it. It worked just fine!
