My R suffered a hit and run in the parking lot this morning. I parked my car at work this morning behind a big, white pickup truck. The truck was parked tail-in, and his tail was hanging a good 16" into the space that I was pulling into. I pulled nose-first behind the truck, and left a good 6" between my front bumper and his back bumper. A few minutes later, from my office, I heard my car alarm go off. I looked out the window and saw a large white truck driving away through the parking lot. I went outside to find that the big white truck was gone and there are some nasty scuff marks all across my front bumper. It's pretty obvious that he backed into my car, rode up my bumper about 2" and then drove off. What gets me is that he must have heard my alarm go off - I certainly heard it from inside my office building.

Luckily, I'm pretty **** about "suspicious" parking lot situations, and I wrote down his license tag # this morning. The police came out to fill out an accident report, and they're running down the tag of the truck. The truck left some white paint on my bumper, so it won't be hard to prove that he damaged my car. All in all, it's probably not very much damage, but this is the first 'incident' for my car, and I've got that sick feeling in my stomach. I can't imagine how you guys feel, that had serious damage to your cars.

It just goes to show that there's nothing we can do to protect our cars from jerks! In a way, I kind of pity the guy that owns that truck, because I know that when the police finally track him down, I"m going to make it a personal mission to make his life a living hell.

BTW, thanks Budman for coming out with the videocam to document the damage.

Hit and Run....Hit and run....pretty seriouse offense;hopefully they will issue a warrant for his arrest;then when he gets pulled over;its off to jail for him....

It was on private property, which at least in florida, is no fault either way, which sucks if your car getpoo poo

 

I do that too, write down tag #s if I have a "feeling" of something potentially wrong

 

Not to condone violence or crap like that but you can always find his address on the net with his plate #....... Then plan something for a few months from now. Nothing drastic. Just something to get his attention. And not all at once. Every few days or weeks something new. Unless of course you get compensated for damages. Most likely you wont since you didnt see who drove the truck. I went through that same thing with a door dinger. But revenge was served slow and cold. The way its supposed to be.

 

This is exactly the kind of moron that I dislike. I can understand cutting a valvestem or something just cause you're annoyed, but doing poo poo for days/weeks? Fock man, do you really have that sad a life that your car and it's door ding controls so much of your time? It's a focking car, nothing more. Certainly not worth being caught acting like a focking 10 year old trying to impress an 11 year old by doing stupid chit.

 

What website is that where you can enter a plate # and get the address of the registered owner?

Thanks for everyone's support. I'm so keyed off about this, I can't get a thing done at work, which is not good b/c I'm real busy this week.

Admittedly, the scuff marks aren't horrible, but even the best buffing and touch-up paint job won't make it "like new" again. I'm not considering "eye for an eye" revenge for this guy, but I fully intend to hit him hard in the pocketbook. I'm considering whether to work the admittedly small scuff marks into a new JDM front end - and frankly, I really don't care that much for the JDM front end.

 

Bag that sucker. Good to hear you got all the info. Sucks to have happened though.

What an idiot! Doesn't he know that to go forward you shift into "D" or "1" not "R".
Thipoo poo and run crap in KC needs to stop. R-Adrenaline just had a hit and run in KC last night. Both prime examples of why I should start carrying the digicam around.

Jeff, you'll get paid out of the court-awarded expert witness expenses. Todd, if I decide not to sue this jerk, I'll have you come to KC and break his legs. Thankfully, this happened in Johnson County, and I know all of the judges in JoCo. Trust me, there'll be plenty of $$ to go around.
