I am in a delema with my motor I cant get it to start it just turns over and backfires I have no idea why cap screws are on good wires are in the right spot it's just a JDM b16 with the following mods
cometic 40mm head gasket
gsr cams
edlebrock intake mani
and that's about it the only thing I havent did is put new plugs in but the ones that are in it are still good I think.

Sure its backfire....

Backfire comes out of intake

afterfire comes out of exhaust

 

it sounds like it is coming out of the exhuast and it'a a gen 2 I belive

 

I will bet it is the distributor. My friend has the old b16 and his was doing the
same thing. He bought a new one and his car has never ran beter.

 

are u spark plugs all in the right spot and is ur distributor lined up right?

 

Are you getting consistant spark to all cylinders? What is your ignition timing at? Cam timing ok?
