Default vtec feels weak? b18c1 swap in 95 ex

I pulled out my b18b1 with p30's the other night and swapped in a b18c1, i put on a new intake manifold (JG), clutch and ACT 12.5lb flywheel. Engine has about 70,000 miles, clean, good compression, starts up very quick and idles beautiful with absolutly no sounds. it is a 99 motor obd2, I used obd1 dizzy, obd1 injectors and my LS harness. I have so far swapped the map sensor, IAC (obd1), IAT, O2.

I put the b18c1 in, wired the vtec to the chassie harness and vtec worked but it seems really weak like you can bearly hear it kick on but it doesnt go any faster when it does kick on, but it is activating. so even though I am using a p28 i wired up the knock sensor and it still does the same thing. I tried a real spoon p30 and it still does the same thing. I know my b18b1 with jdm p30 pistons was faster and so does everyone else i let try it. It just feels like vtec is not kicking like it should and the engine does not sound like that scary vtec sound that every other dohc vtec sounds like. I pulled the vtec soliniod and it looks pretty clean.

What else should I check? Something has to be wrong, it feels slow. just for ***** and giggles i raced my friend with a stock 2001 integra gsr and he beat me by a few car lengths, granted my rev limit is 7600 i am in a civic coupe with basic I/E and intake manifold (yes i know that is for high RPM, I am going turbo soon) So what do you guys suggest me trying/doing?

Thank you
Kyle

Is the ECU set up for a GSR? Because a GSR has that retarded *** intake manifold design and since you got rid of it maybe you need a chip for a type R engine now.

the p28 has the stock d16z6 program on it. But I also tried a Spoon P30 for an Sir2 (DOHC) and it did the same thing, it was a little quicker but vtec did the same thing. I have the JG intake manifold so it is even bigger then stock

get the p28 chipped for a stock gsr or one with mild mods it should help, also may want to do a compression check

Like I said the p30 i tried did the same thing, P30's is chipped for a Sir2 B16 DOHC. I guess I can have my ecu chipped now since I will need to when I go turbo anyway but it seems like there is something else wrong as when I tried a DOHC ecu it acts the same way. Compression is good and there is not a hint of smoke, runs like new.

P30 will run a gsr but not as good as a ecu with a map for a 1.8, the P30 is setup for a 1.6 you have a 1.8, also p30 vtec engagement is probably a little late for the gsr, try getting a stock gsr or type r map for the p28 or the p30

if the motor was sitting for a while. remove vtec solenoid you will see a screen it allows oil to flow through for vtec. there is also another screen inside the housing below the solenoid. try cleaning the screens or get new ones. could be the problem. good luck.
