Autometer install - it doesn't work

Default installing an autometer but doesnt work need help

so today i wired everything from what i searched on..
red - to radio wire.. 12v
white- illumination
green - RPM input
black - to whatever is metal..

tell me if tahts correct?
i couldnt get it to light up or to work .. please help me someone .. 4 wires were cut off since my car is a 4 cylinder

Whats wrong with this setup?!

Does your radio still work?
Also make sure you have grounded it properly, attaching it to metal wont always work as paint will mask the ground point

You can get the docs on the Auto Meter web site.

Sounds like it's wired correctly. Since you have nothing, not even illum., I'd suspect the ground. Run a longer wire down to the kick panel area and find a good ground there.

yeh it was the ground.. thanks!
now how do i adjust it? do i hold the red button and adjust the dial? or is there more to it?

the rpm from the autometer isnt reading correct why is that?? someone please help

its at 6 rpm when it starts

6 x 1000 rpm .. is it suppose to start at that number or could it be at 1 x 1000

it idles at 6000 to mention..from the autometer dunno why i want it to idle at 1000

Double check all of your wiring.

If you did everything properly, there should be no problem.

If something does not work correctly, then you made a mistake and need to fix it.

did you set the cyl choice? some have 4/6/8 switch on them
