I have A CRX with a D16Z6, the thing is a blew a head and warped the **** out of the motor and now i am replacing it with a (ZC) motor according to what the engine code is. The ZC motor that i bought is identical to the d16z6, the thing is i wanted to if this motor (ZC) will pass smog with the set up i have becasue its a JDM motor. Also the CRX was smog legal with the D16Z6 on it i have the sticker that the refere puts on. Oh yeah i am CALI

 

ZC sohc vtec will pass smog.. my car did ..

 

The sohc vtec is the exact JDM version of the D16Z6. Some people will tell you that the cam is different, they'd make different power woudn't they...... So there you go, yes the engine will pass smog as long as you hook up all the visual smog stuff like valve cover ventilation tube, canister lines. And if you don't pass the test itself, go cheap and slap like 2 cats under the byotch...

 

but the z6 is a 1.6 and the sohc zc is a 1.5 right? how could it be the same?

 

naw the ZC sohc vtec is 1.6.. not 1.5

That is correct. The D15B VTEC which is what you are probably thinking of is very similar, but 1.5 VS 1.6

 

It'll pass
With the Right ECU and smog devices you can even get it BAR cert'd.

thanks for the replies, yeah i am just using the block. with the set up that i have it pass smog with the d16z6 its just replacing the engine block with ZC soch vtec which is the same as a d16z6 except it a JDM motor.

thats the D15b .. its a 1.5L vtec engine but the Zc sohc vtec is a 1.6L engine its basically the same as the D16z6 .. but its just a JDM engine

just ask a place that sells swaps and maybe they can speacial order it.. or have one you can buy
