Default bearing questions

i recently built a crvtec and i used acl bearings in the bottom end. bad mistake. i beat a rod bearing flat in 1028 miles and fried my crank, 1 eagle rod, and 1 wiseco piston, . cha-ching $$$$. it wasnt like didnt spend enough money in the first place. my question is how do i find out which bearings i need to use for my bottom end. i am going oem honda(i hear that they are the best) and they are color coded so i am trying to figure out which colors to order. How do i take my measurements from my crank and rod and fighure out which bearings i need to get. thank you for your time.

Well did you check the ACL's for clearances or did you just slap them in? Plastigauge can be used to check if you bought standard (green) ACLs to see if they are within specified tolerances.

If you want the exact bearings from Acura, you need to match the codes from the rods, crank, and block.

OR you use a Micrometer and bore gauge to measure the journals and the rods big ends and main bores. Then you figure out exactly what size bearings you need for each rod and main bearing. OEM has different sizes that will dial you right in.

Some folks buy the ACL's, then check for clearances, and if any are too small or too big, they buy the Acura bearings for that particular rod end or main. Most of the time the ACL's are dead on, but sometimes you get what you got, fugged.
