Default ES motor mount inserts *pic!*

My car is a 99 Si. I'm confused concerning the Energy Suspension driver side inserts. In the ES instruction sheet, it says that the fatter piece is on the inside (leaving it about 1 cm from touching the ps pulley belt), and the thinner piece is on the outside.

However, a call to an ES rep today told me the complete opposite. He said that looking on his computer system, it says that the fatter piece should be on the outside while the thinner piece should be on the inside.

Which way did everyone installed theirs?

The fat side goes toward the tire, also, look into not using there huge ziptie looking things to hold them in,one of them failed on me and split the power steering belt right down the center.

Yeah that's what happened to me also. Their zip tie is a hit and miss thing. A few lock like they should, but I received 2 that slipped also. I have no idea who makes their specialty zip ties for them, but ordinary zip ties NEVER EVER fail to properly lock up.

As a result, my rotating ps pulley belt transormed into a sawblade slicing thru my ES insert when it crawled out of the mount. I had the fatter piece on the inside per the ES instructions which was already dangerously sitting close to the belt even with the zip tie on.

concerning the zip ties on the ES mounts... i've heard using the zip ties used to mount a cooling fan directly to the radiator work wonders. i have yet to use one to replace the missing one i have.

and to the OP, just put the fat side on the outside facing the tire, that way you wont have clearance issues if something is to fail.

i have the energy mounts i don't remember which way i put them in because energy didn't come with directions but with the energy it was self explanitory because one side was deeper. i didn't use zip ties i put washers on there that were bigger than the hole in the insert
