Default Will attaching an o2 sensor to a test pipe cause a check engine light for obd2 cars?

My friend has a Prelude and wants to get one of those test pipe with a o2 sensor bunge. His car is an obd2 car. He wonder if it will cause a check engine light to appear in his car? I never had that problem. I have an obd1 computer. I don't know how to answer him. Could one of you fellas help out?

yes it will throw a code for the 2nd o2 sensor. he really shouldn't bother with the test pipe, there's some dynos on here that show no huge power gains with them. plus he will have to find and install an o2 sensor simulator to stop the CEL, his car will small like ****, and he will be adding way more polution. in short: don't bother with a test pipe.

I've got a 99 type sh with a test pipe with O2 bung and I've never thrown a secondary O2 code ever. Bought the car with 40,000 miles it has 55,000 now!

Tell people that use the juice that. I think it would go test pipe > high flow cat if that's the case. I've never had trouble with mine but everyones cars are different.

From what I know it will throw a CEL. I agree with the others just tell him go high flow cat.

you will throw a code because the obd2 system will sense that the cat converter is not present, therefore throwing a catalyst ineffeciency or below threshold code, but you can easily bypass this code by getting an o2 sim

im gonna run a high flow cat instead of a test pipe when my header gets installed. I just cant stand to hear street cars that are so loud. Example: my car 5th gen N1 with test pipe is ungodly loud.
