countershaft and mainshaft??
im not fully understand ing your question but if your swaping gears for totally new ones (that are of a different ratio) you must change the counter and main shaft gears
that is the site i was orginally looking at, i don't understand it... what im saying is my second gear grinds do to synchros, but i know grnding messes up the gear so i want to toally replace my gsr 2nd gear for a new gsr second gear...
Transmission work is difficult to plan. You won't know what is bad until you open it and inspect the parts. On the contrary, you probably don't want to have your car down for two weeks while awaiting parts? If you start buying all of the possibly bad parts, you can wind up with a hefty bill.
Hopefully your gears are not damaged. Maybe your synchros are worn, but still have some service life. When is the last time that you changed the transmission fluid?
