Ok, I am building a '93 Si for national level autocross. I know which parts are important and I know all the right brands to use, but which of those really cheap ebay parts, if any, can I get away with using, atleast for a little while until I have enough money to buy all the 'right' parts. In particular, I was looking at those headers you can get shipped for $100 or less, the camber kits, and maybe the coilovers. Thanks,

if u get cheap stuff, then u know how bad its gonna be.
unless ur getting like a cai or headders, which cannot go wrong,
but coilovers and camber kits, id think its not worth it.
wait and get somethin good,
cheap coilovers+stock shocks=shocks takin a poop[

 

i had to ebay intakes on my car. cold air and short ram. both of which were obviously made-in-china.

worked fine for me no problems for a year.....

 

I'm not new to autocross, I do most national level races I can make it to. I already have Konis, I was mainly asking about the headers and the coil overs. I actually just realized that a pair of Ground controls I bought for an old car that were lying around look like they'll fit the civic perfectly, I just need some for the rear. As far as the headers go, do they actually make any more power than stock, and will they crack in a couple months. I need a new catalytic converter for my car (I need to return to a stock one for legality) and would prefer a whole new exhaust set up so I can just bolt it on, rather than welding on old parts, especially if later I'm gonna get a DC sports put on. good luck autocrossing with ebay coilovers lol... hey throw them your idea and maybe they will sponsor you

 

If you buy anything off ebay, make sure its name brand products. They still arent as cheap but your getting good quality merchendise sometimes more than $150 off depends on what. Im getting Skunk2 coilovers off there for $250 when they retail almost $400.

 

Skunk2 coilovers with KYB Shocks is the way to go

 

If you're racing in a class that allows those mods, you can forget using anything eBay and being competitive.

 

use ebay as a tool to get lower prices on name brand or high quality parts for cheaper prices.... the no name ebay crap that does a poor job, and will eventually wear out/brake/wear out or brake stuff on your car you never thought possible, belive me, ive done it

it will get you no where to cheap out on parts... eventually you'll learn better when it starts braking and you'll have to re-do it over agian and spend even more money to do the job right.

do it right the first time, and you wont have to worry about it, or do it over agian later.
