Default couple questions...b16 swap in eg, harness problems, what harness can i use?

like the title says, i just bought a 92 cx with a 1st gen jdm b16, and the car has a hacked up wiring harness and ecu harness, it runs like crap, its a mess. the car was converted to pre obd and that is illegal and im going to boost and i want obd1!

My question is what engine harness can i use? is a obd1 gsr usable or should i find a stock harness and add the 4 wire o2 and the vtec wire/plug? what would you guys do if you were in my position.

Any help would be very greatful, my car is running extrmely rich, and its hard to figure out which wires go where, seince it was hardwired to obd0... TIA!

use a 92-95 ex/si harness... it will plug up and has all the vtec wires already... you will just need to add the vtec wires from the ecu side up to where the chassis harness plugs into the engine harness... and make sure to use the 4 wire o2... hmmm its a 92... ive heard that every 92 model civic is prewired for vtec on the ecu side... can anyone confirm that?

Yes, all 92 Civics were wired for Vtec. If you are switching to obd1, make sure you have a pr3 or p72.

don't forget the knock sensor if you have one on the motor..
not sure bout the, all civic, pre-wire for v-tech though..
but yes, ex / si 92-95 will do just fine.
? the motor is obd0 correct?

you dont need a knock sensor with a p28... you will need one for the p30 however... not sure on the p72... sounds like your gonna need an obd1 intake manifold as well... man you got yourself in a big ol mess

yes... you will need obd1 engine harness, 4 wire o2, obd1 ecu, and obd1 intake manifold and you should be all set

ok cool, also, where the ecu is, the harness the plugs into there, was hardwired obd0.... what should i try and do about that? can i just replace the ecu harness with a nice fresh harness??

If i were you i would get a whole new cabin harness out of a 92-95 civic and replace the hack job thats in there ( i know the car) You also need a obd-1 b16a distributor. PM me if you need more info ive done many obd conversions.
