OK guys, All BS aside, what is better?
LSVTEC or a B series to drop in my 92 hatch.
I currently have the block and transmission from a 1990 Integra (B18a1). I am starting to think dropping the B series engine is going to be less of a hassle. I can pick up a swap for ~2500 bucks.
But on the other hand, I should make more power with the LSVTEC. I was considering the following setup:
B18a1 block - polished crank, shot peened rods, etc..
GSR head - stock internals for now
Using the cable transmission from the Integra
After doing a few months of research, the LSVTEC is getting to be more expensive than I thought. I will need to buy:
Oil pump - $100
Water pump - $100
Timing belt - $30
Rod and main bearings - $100
ARP bolts - $100
VTEC dizzy - $175
VTEC solenoid - $200
VTEC conversion kit - $240
GSR head - $600
Pistons - $400
I know I am probably missing some stuff too...
I can get it assembled for $800 from a pretty reputable joint. But is it really worth it? I'm getting really disgusted because I already yanked the Integra motor out and it's sitting in my garage now.
Can someone provide me with some insight/experience? I'd really appreciate it.

LS is a b-series...so your asking if you should buy a whole complete vtec swap for $2500? what swap a B16A or B18C? It would be easier to go with a complete swap than build an LS vtec for sure...but, if put together right; an lsvtec will be faster..
Sorry guys, it will be a B16a. I'm so friggin frustrated...
I was so enthused to build the LSVTEC. I picked up an engine stand and an engine hoist, thinking I could do it myself. I seriously don't trust myself to build this sort of thing after doing the research. I want something that is reliable, but not necessarily a daily driver. Upstate NY roads and weather suck ***.
Convince me.

just go with that B16A swap make sure its a hydro trans.....you'll love the power..after that you could build your lsvtec yourself laterlater....
im pretty sure you can find a gsr head w/ dizzy, vtech solenoid for about ~600
also if your thinking getting pistons you might wanna sleeve the block while your in there, unless you don't plan on sleeving, but if you do itll save a lot of money and time
