Well I'm about an hour away from home right now and my Engine light is on and the gear postion (D4) keeps blinking.

What does this mean?


I have about 68,000miles on the car so far


please help!

Do you have access to a jumper wire or a paperclip? If so, check the code by jumping the plug for it. If you don't know where that is, for 4th gens, its underneath the center console, its a small blue plug. I'm not sure about 5th gens, but you jump that plug with either a small wire or paper clip and turn your car on to the second click, not quite starting it, then the cel should blink in a pattern (long and short blinks) then search for what the codes mean, I don't have them off hand right now. The jumper wire for 5th Gens is on the passangerside of the centercounsol, under the radio, there is a piece of carpet you'll need to pop off, then you should see the jumper wire

D4 blinks usually it means there is something up with the Tranny.

won't be soon before the tranny dies

 

I was driving it today and when I shifted to 3rd, the tranny slipped really bad and the 3 started blinking


First tranny- Dying at 68,000 miles....:sad/happy because i will prob just be getting a better car now (G35,STi,EVO):

 

jesus a tranny goes out so you get a $30,000 car , i wish i still lived at home

blinking D4 = tranny is DONE. rebuild on the way, or total replacement.

anyways, dont' rag on him cause his parents are willing to buy him a new car. from his screen name he's prolly vietnamese.. and vietnamese people have this fear of their children driving junk cars that might cause "accidents" and yeah, a tranny problem WILL cause an accident.. .ask me how i know.

but the list of his cars is RIDICULOUS. freaking 19 years old.. and rocking a 30g car... its POSSIBLE, but if you're not paying payments, then its just plain spoiled. just get a econobox, go to college and graduate, sell the econobox then buy a car that you are willing to pay for yourself.

on top of that, once a teenager gets his/her hand on a 300hp car, they'll think their fast and furious ask me how i know..
