Amp draining battery?
Alright, well about a month or 2 ago, my amp. cord (the fat one) was pulled out of the amp. When I was screwing it back in, the screwdriver touched the amp and it sparked a bit, I disregarded it and all seemed fine. About 2 weeks later, my battery was dead. I've been having to jump it every morning, unless I unplug it. I'm guessing there is a short in the amp? I don't know much to anything about car audio, and I don't want to pay someone to fix it. Any ideas on what is causing my battery to drain?

checking the fuses? wtf does that have to do with a battery drain?

If the batt. is still dead in the morning, I would start looking someplace else for the problem.

get a multimeter and plug it into the battery once the car is off. if it's still draining, something is probably draining the battery.
unplug the amp, check the voltage again, if it's not draining anymore, then it's the amp.
otherwise, disconnect the battery and check the battery by itself, it might just be a bad battery.

Once you deep cycle a battery it's no good. It will never be as good as it was. Tracking down a power drain can be time consuming. When you check the curent draw from the battery with the car off there will be a little bit of curent draw...that's normal and each car is differant. You may have caused a permanent connection inside the amp on the circuit board. Normally the amp requires the remote turn on wire to know when to turn on...but who knows now. From now on when you mess around with the amp, remove the fuse up by the battery.
