I need some feedback.
Hi dudes, what's up. I am a sixteen year old surfer from Tucson AZ, and I have enough money to blow on an S2000. I was wondering if it would be better to keep the engine as it is and do a rebuild, or add a turbo. My friend Jay said that it 's way more money than its worth to add so little power to my car. Please give me some feedback.
Damn I wish I had that much money when I was 16. Anyways, it is very expensive to mod an S2000. Turbo would get you the most power for the least cost, but it is still quite pricey. I would try just driving the car stock for awhile first. See how you like it.

just keep it stock. you're better off.. cause knowing your age and your possible driving experience.... you're going to end up in a ditch or wrapped around a tree racing someone if your car is modded...

honestly - learn to drive it first. autocrosses, track events, etc. spend dollars on tires & brakes. being 16, you don't have as many bad habits as others over 30 that need to be unlearned. do this now, and you'll be faster in this car and others in your future.

I will do that. Ita not very often that I get to go surfing, maybe five or six times a year, but when I do go, i get atoked like no other. Anyway, I surf at Huningt5on Beach, usually the North side of the pier, and then in Perth, Down Under, as well as North Sghore. The Pipe is a bitch but I love surfing on it. I have been down on it threee times.
I appreciate your concern, but I have been to both Skip Barber school of Racing as well as Bob Bondurant's School of racing, and both of my instructors say I am a natural. So, they have no doubt that I can't handle a modded up S2000. But thanks again for your concern.

good to hear that you got that out of the way. I just didn't want to see the "oops, I lifted on cold tires".
so how many miles are on the S?

I took skip barbers school as a gift about 3 years ago...i can say from experience, it has nothing to do with driving a car like the S2000, it teaches the basics of rwd handling characteristics on cars that in my opinion were either less than the S2000 (a pack of Mustang GT's) or pure race cars on a track (the open wheel panoz cars)...it certainly gives you a respect for driving on a track, and shows you alot when it comes to the basics of FR platform cars, but honestly...driving the S2000 is different, and ive gotten it into some hairy situations even with years and years of driving experience AND a good bit of autocross participation and the barber course.
Drive one, get a feel for it and see if it tickles your fancy...the thing about the S2000 is that the power band is so high up, you cant really drive it "spiritedly" in my opinion without really pushing it, and thats when it likes to remind you that though it handles really really well, its limits are easily exceeded.
Also...given your age, i know for a FACT you havent had much street driving experience, and on the street, conditions are so variable that those track courses are almost moot when it comes to teaching you about street driving scenarios...track driving is very routine, planned out and predictable...street driving can put you in a situation withen half a second where you could make the wrong decision on which pedal to use more or less of and bam, your upside down in a ditch with your arm mangled behind you while you bleed to death while the EMC comes...

just because you have been to those schools does not that mean you will be great with the S right away. granted you will have something up on newbies but it does not mean you can control the S the way you want. by no means am i trying to put you down or anything. i hope you are good, but we all have to learn.
speaking from experience, a buddy of mine has been to 3 schools and a few different courses. his S is modified with IHE and suspension. mine at the time was stock evereything minus tires. i have no problem keeping up and even passing him with my car. we both run same tires so thats out of the question. i have no schooling and limited track days. even i will say i am not good, i am just ok if that.
in terms of which one to buy, test drive the 03 and 04. feel the differences and see what you like better. good luck
