steering lock
ummm, this came out of nowhere, i dont know how the hell it happened, but my steering lock was activated. i got in my car this morning to go to school, turned the car on, started to back out and then the steering wheel clicked and locked. now i cant move it at all. i called honda, they said to put my key in and try and move it, but it still wont budge. anyway to deactivate it? thanks guys

EDIT: saw this in another post, if i just put a flathead screwdriver and try to wedge it between the 2 goldish bolts at the top of the picture, and pry those out, would that disable it?

This happens to me sometimes too, with both my Si and my old DC4. Like silver said, move the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key. It'll take some wiggling and movement to get it to free up, but you'll get it. Good luck.
ive been trying for the past half hour (me and my dad been taking turns) its not working, and im starting to get frustrated. ive put the key half way in and jiggled the steering wheel side to side and the key still wont go in??? is there a wire i can cut to temporarily get it disabled. and just solder it back together once i take it to honda?

Yes he took the time to take the picture, come home to post it on honda-tech.
Im sure its possible he is a thieve but I highly doubt it.

im not a thief. this is legit. for some reason, my steering wheel was locked this morning when i was getting rdy to leave for school. the cel is on and i dont know what to do. ive put the key in, while budging the steering wheel side to side, and the key will not go in any further than about half way. if you think im a thief, dont add a comment on how to do it. thats your decision, if you think this is a legit problem, add your comment. its your choice. im just trying to get my car back into commision. i dont really feel comfortable taking apart my ignition. how much would it cost to get it replaced if i broke it? is it really hard to break?
To remove the steering lock you, first take a punch and a hammer and tap the 2 sheer bolts on top of the steering column. once those bolts are removed you can pull the ignition down and no more lock. you will see the metal bar that goes into the steering column. Sounds like you will need to replace your ignition, maybe the lock is stuck.

^^^^What he said. I just replaced an igntion on an Accord and it wasnt all that hard. You can get the ignition lock cylinder from autozone for like $80. Or you can get the OEM one, which is what my friend did, and fork out $279. It comes with the ignition switch as well.

If you remove those two sheer bolts your ignition unit will just come down, you can disable the wheel lock and just start it with the ignition hanging. But then it would look like you stole it.

I use a dremil to cut a notch on the head of those sheer screws.. that way I can use a fleathead to remove / re-use them. This is teh correct thing to do. Its mechanical, no wires to mess with or anything.

I think everyone already knows how to steal a Honda anyways.
