right now im running a lot of boost and its all over the road when I get into it in 3rd and 4th. Is this normal? setup is b16 tranny with quaife lsd, es mount inserts, and skunk2 drag springs. Im yet to hook up my low boost switch so im stuck with all this power
.
Im going to put on my traction bars and get a full alignment done soon... might make a difference?
Just wondering what hp's some of you other guys run SAFELY on the street and if there is a way to improve it. Its great having a fast car, but if you cant control it its a little scary...

650 on the street and love it...No such thing as too much power, if you can keep the car under control..Wherever you feel uncomfortable stop..
best of luck too you..

I think ~350-400whp is perfect for the streets, that is if you want to hooked for sure by 4th. With ~350 and a light chassis you might be able to semi-hook in third with some decent tires (just nothing really shitty). Don't get me wrong though either, up until now we only drove around on higher boost (28lbs+) and it's awesome, but you don't move anywhere. With 700whp+ it doesn't take anything to break 5th gear loose at 100mph (as well as all the gears below)... and well yea, that's sort of pointless! The thing is, if you're driving strictly on race gas, why not just keep the boost up? Aghh, it's kind of a lose-lose situation. Just my $0.02 though.
Didn't really read your post as thoroughly as I should have the first time but yes, you wouldn't believe how much an alignment helps (if you're currently off). It makes all the difference in the world, especially if you're boost up on "groovy" freeways (okay, that's stupid but we've done it before).
This definately isn't needed and I'm sure most of you have seen it before since I made it last year, but it's just a few of the cars that Scott and I have built playing on the freeway (none of them were on full boost at any point, but towards the end they were on really low boost since we had just switched to manual XS dual stage boost controllers)!

350-375hp is what I've had the most fun with on the street. Definitely get an alignment, but I don't see the traction bars making that big of a difference on the street. Blowing the tires off at 100 mph is cool and all, but it gets old. You should be able to hook up 350-375hp in 3rd and 4th gears though.

The reason the car pulls is i bet because of the tires. Radials torque steer like hell. Put a set of M and H DOT's on there and i garuntee that youll be able to hook 450whp and drive it with one hand no problem.
My car was really fun and semi controllable at like 350 ish on the street. once getting 400+ it just gets sick. lol.
Fun , but struggle big time for traction even in 5th on the highway. lol

225/50/15 isn't wide enough? they stick 1" out of my fenders... I think im gonna give the m&h DOT's a shot next.

Hi Dunkd,
You need 8.7-25-13 for the track. DOT's you need P235-60-15.

Im thinking its your alignment. Im running bfg traction t/a tires on my crx and i can hook by top of 3rd gear. Ive ran 11.5 on the setup with the slick blowing out down the track. So I know what you mean when you say the car gets squirelly (sp). When Im on the street the cars stays pretty straight. But now Im curious if the dot will be better for hooking on street as well. I still say get the alignment and go from there.

How about one of those LED signs in front of your car and hook it up to an RPM Activated Switch. When you hit full boost, make the sign light up and say "GET OUT OF MY WAY! BOOSTED CAR COMING THROUGH!"
Making it safer for the streets? You warned them right? =D
