Default uneven power

Hey guys i have a quick question. My car is a 99 Si. While going like 10 mph and accelerating (like 1/2 throttle) in second gear it feels like the car makes more power at certain times and loses power and switches back. Its nothing major and barely noticible. Say at like 2500rpm its accelerating, hits 3200 rpm and then accelerates a little harder but hits 3500 and accelerartes but slower then it just was, this all happening at constant throttle. The change in power is very small but noticable if u are paying attention. Like the power is a little unsmooth and jumpy. It only usually happens low in the rpm's. Hopefully you understand what i am saying. its not a big deal i was just curious what the reason was. Thanks

welcome to honda power curves!!! but if it is really that bad and noticable try a simple tune up first and also check your o2 sensor see how that does

LOL, not everyone can afford a k20a swap.

thanks for the replies guys! It is something i noticed but not major in anyway. You really have to be driving and paying attention to it to notice so im not worried. I am also going to be doing a tune up shortly so that should help a little too. Thanks again.

yea... what motor is it? prob a gsr?

one way to fix that is boost... something im considering. once u start modding that motor for na tho, u can even out the powerband. get an i/m, cams, reprogram the ecu, etc....

LOL, boost has nothing to do with his problem. He's got a 99 Si, which probably means he's powered by a B16.

Back to the problem, just do a tune-up and you should be fine. Cars I've seen with this problem have all been fixed with a spark-plug tune-up. Good luck bro

My stock d16y7 does this. Uneven power (ok I use the term "power" loosely hehe) in 2nd gear while accelerating. Barely noticeable, between 2000 - 3500.
I put in factory plugs (ngk) and it still does it (its due for a full tuneup soon though)
Can't quite figure it out...

It seems like you're turbo. Is your setup tuned?

Yea that is EXACTLY what is happening. Im almost 100% sure its normal.

As for the other guys. Its a b16a2 (99Si) not a b18c1 (gsr). Also this car is NOT boosted, i have another Si that is hence the name turboem1. Right now i have cheap bosch plugs which may have to do with it. Anyway i will be installing spark plug wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, new plugs, and an oil change and maybe it will help out. Thanks for all the replies. I may just have to boost this one!
