Default >>>>>>---OBD1 to OBD2 Question----<<<<<<<

Ok well, my girlfriends blew her 1996 dx sohc motor and its needs to be replaced, and when I went to get a price quote on this motor it came out to about 500.00 bucks, which didnt even come with a crank angle sensor on it (verified it was a JDM +1996 engine). So i would need to swap over the oil pump, sensor etc etc onto the new motor, Ok heres my question...cant i just buy a 92-95 motor and swap everything over including the crank angle sensor? At this point i dont want to spend +500.00 plus on a SOHC when i could either buy a cheaper older sohc or just rebuild the one she has...Thanks for the info and YES i did search

All the junk yards around my way are quoting 500 bucks for all sohc. Just get a motor with everthing and replace it, thats the easiest way.

well in my area its about 100 bucks cheaper...either way I would be changing the sensor, oil pump, etc etc...just wondering if I would be able to save some cash.

y change all that crap, the motors here come with all that stuff. Go to a different junk yard and get a complete motor.

ok, i understand that you would recomend me buying a new engine at a junk yard (which I dont advise unless its going to be rebuilt, cause you have no idea how many miles are on it, as with a imorted jdm motor, at least you know its milage, and low miles at that) but that wasnt the question...

and its not that much work
if both motors are out of the car
to replace a sensor if its possible?

hey man i have a 00 DX motor with about 25k at my house (in vista northern sd) im in Mexico right now as we speak, i will try to get a hold of a buddie of mine to get on my dads lot where i have the motor at (so PM me with an offer)...

but as far as swapping all the goods, its possible, i had to do it once the only issue u might run into would be the sensor hitting teh block, i had that issue with a d15b vtec, i doubt u will have that issue with a 92-95 DX...

also i wont be able to get online until tomarow

hope this helped

as long as you have oil in a sohc, the damn thing should not blow. Those motors are practically bullet proof from the factory. Any junk yard will tell you what kind of mileage they have.

I take it you not going that route good luck with which ever street you take....
