Default My new SV650 .....56k Go boil an egg

Well here it is, my new SV650. The thing has a negligible 340 miles on it, all of which I put on myself since I bought it at the end of last month. The bike is awesome so far even though I haven’t really pushed it past 5000 more than a few times (not past 6000 though) because of the break-in but it feels amazing. Now I know a lot of people don’t recommend starting on a new bike but the break-in period has kept things pretty civilized but I do have frame sliders to lessen damage if it does happen. I take my MSF course over the Memorial Day weekend (which blows) but at least I’m taking it. And I’m kind of a short guy (5’6 166 lbs) but I can put both feet on the ground…. just not the heels . I also have a riding buddy keeping an eye on me , he's been riding for 9 years started on a sport bike and moved on to a hog. My riding buddy owns a Harley Deluxe so you can imagine the weird looks we get rolling down the street together but it is a bad *** Harley. Well here are some pics:

The bike: An ’05 SV650

The frame sliders on the bike:

The brain bucket: KBC VR-2

The jacket: The MotoGP Grid Jacket (got a good deal on it)

My riding buddy’s tank: Harley Deluxe (no baffles…. loud as fork)

Me on my buddy sea donkey of a bike: Weighs twice as much a mine .

Well that’s all the pics I have for now. I can’t wait till this bike gets its first service and I can get on it some more. In a civilized manner of course.

props to you man for being so responsible and not skipping out on safety and whatnot.

i just started riding and i know its tough to want to start out on a 600SS and fulfill the need for speed, but its good to know there are other smart rider around.
Also, having a riding partner is such a huge help. I've just been around on my friends old ninja 250 and he's been riding for 4 years...he's able to give me pointers and watch my back for me, makes riding alot more comfortable.

Yeah having a riding partner is something I would recomend to any new like myself. Especially when it's one with experience and like you said someone who can give you pointers and watch your back on the road...

The first thing I was told is treat every driver as if they don't see you.....cause half of them won't and the other half won't care unless they themselves ride.

The only problem with having a riding buddy with a Harley is he always wants go long distances.....and while his seats are like lazy boys mine is like a stool

But thanks guys I can see myself putting alot of miles on the SV this summer.

Haha she's actually very ok with it but she's still gets worried about me riding...But she doesn't overall mind. We are financially stable, that and she will use this against me in a year and a half to get a $1000-$2500 glass kiln. Well thats life...

I also too the bike for a spin on tuesday...getting kinda hooked on the thing my only complaint about the bike is the seat is a bit tough for 80+ mile trips ...But thats nothing mechanical so I love it!!
