Default OBX LSD : Buyer beware

I started a thread over in the Road Racing forum discussing my experience with OBX...

As I know OBX recently released a LSD for the prelude I figured this would be good information to share with you guys, as I might have tried it on my prelude as well if it was available when I purchased my quaife. Just thought I would share since I spend most of my time here.

wow.

it just goes to show that saving $400 here and there might seem like the smart thing to do, but when it comes to quality components, they're worth every penny.

since i started modding my car, i've tried to take shortcuts in the interest of saving money, and TBH all they've ever done is cost me more money. just goes to show that they'll always get you in the end, somehow.

quaife.

I thought OBX was taking steps toward improving the quality of their products, well after seeing this I guess those steps were backwords.

I've heard of one or two people saying they had the problem. I can't remember which thread it was in, but I believe I remember reading that quaife fixed the units that had troubles if people asked them.

Also, I have inspected the quaife in my M2A4 and it is beveled on the inside and does not suffer from this problem.

I've personally installed/worked with 4 different quaife LSDs in prelude transmissions. All were great. The first one had a thread lock compound in the ring gear threads that gave me a little grief, but one call to quaife america and we figured it out.
