problems taking knock sensor off!
hey guys... im having problems taking off my knock sensor... let me give you a visual of the first problem i came into:

the thing circled in red is the port for the oil filter (which is removed in the picture for access to knock sensor) .... and as i was fiddleing around in that cramped area trying to figure out a way to get the 27 mm deep socket on the knock sensor, i accidentally bumped that thing circled in blue...
i jiggled on it (the thing circled in blue) and to my dismay, it was really loose and as i touched it, a liquid came out... and a good amount of it came out too... what liquid is that? is this a problem? if it is, how to remedy...
next issue:

so i highlighted the 27mm deep socket in green in the picture above... there is really no way i can get my 1/2 drive on the sensor with the 27mm socket on it... so i attempted to put the socket on the sensor first and then try to squeeze the 1/2 drive on there somehow...
that black bumpy tube, that appears to be on top of the socket, is actually right in its face... so my 1/2 drives head is too thick to squeeze in between the area of the socket and the black tube...
can someone suggest a tool or something? i will most likely need to run to sears...
i am more concerned for the time being with the liquid that came out from that thing in the first picture though... it almost exactly resembles the knock sensor, same size too... but just not on the back of the block...
tia tia tia guys!

in order to fit my 27mm socket and .5 inch driver over the knock sensor I had to move the wire harness near the sensor. to do this I removed a bracket nearby that held teh wire harness in place. this gave me room to get the sensor out, and at the end I replaced the screw in the bracket and everything was good to go.
That looks like your power steering switch(circled in blue) that you said fluid came out of. That fluid is power steering fluid. Also you can move you engine wiring harness off of that clip (on the right side of the bottom pic) that might give you enough room but be carefull not to pull on it to hard, or just disconnect that side of your engine harness to give you enough slack.good luck

it had a funny smell... a sour smell i guess you can say? it was brownish/reddish... could be wrong tho cuz of the lighting i had... and about id say... well it prob coulda filled a full cup up with it... if it is the power steering fluid from what steveobb4 said, thats just whatever was left after the engine was turned off correct? just releasing the pressure from it? should i be ok with that much lost?

so just to confirm... that big black bumpy tube just encloses a fat wire harness which can be removed?
thanks for the responses guys

And about you power steering switch, you could have just broken that sensor itself and its just leaking from a crack, then you could just buy a new one. It should leak when you start the car and turn the wheel, i wouldnt recommend driving it if it does cuz you dont wana buy a new power steering rack.

what if its not cracked, cuz as i was poking at it... it was so lose, i could have just taken it off by hand... thats when it started to come out... if it is a ok, i can drive on it right?

ok when i started the car... it makes this weird high pitched sound i never heard before... i guess it sounds like a vacume cleaner running... and as the rpms go up, the pitch gets higher... can the lack of power steering fluid cause this? it sounds like something isnt running right... the ps resorvoir is really low

yah cuz when i turn the wheel the noise gets more distincitve and louder... can i drive ok with the noise? what is that noise neway?
Hopefully that sound is a loose accesory belt and not your Power steering pump. Fill up your resivoir to full and start your car, check for leaks around that sensor. If it leaks then its your call if you drive it. Good luck
