Default Greetings looking for engine advice

Hello all. I just inherited a '89 civic DX and am thinking about swapping the engine. Was hoping for some advice on what to swap it out with. Thanks

First tell us more

What kind of power you looking for?
How easy of a swap can you handle?
How much can you spend?

Then some of us..not all apparently...can give you some educated advice.

I am an experienced mechanic so the swap it self is no problem. What I am hoping to get is advice on what to put in. Never really played around with Civic’s and so do not know what the trends are for engine swaps and mods. Would like to run upper 100’s in hp at least just do not know what is out there that will fit. Budget is not as big as I would like, 5000 at most. Thanks

Ill vouch for what everyone is saying. For that money you can build up a d16z6 really well, and then turbo it. With all the money left from your 5k budget you can get after market shocks/clutch/tires etc.

Or you can build up a B series, it's a bit more money, but the base hp is higher.

From the posts I've read, if you got the money to boost a d-series, dont mess with B series.

Hope you have fun with your car
