the dxeco isn't vtec compatible, so how does that work? are you throwing any codes? if the ecu isn't a vtec ecu, then I would imagine vtec isn't engaging right?

Your car is running lean with that ecu. It might be the cause of the shitty performance.

are you throwing any codes...and yes ppl have done mini me's with a z6 head on a y7 block...its not as common as a b7/z6 or y7/y8 but they do it. I say get a p28 ecu and see what that does

its really easy to do, go to the junkyard and cut the ecu plug of an obd1 honda and make your wire harness with it

the cam timing is good i used the y7 cam gear which is 1.75 deg advance so i got it advanced a tooth to amke up for the ugly z6 gear and crank is in TDC the dizzy well its on wiht 2 bolts 1 in the hole "which was drilled bigger" and 1 like along the side of the other tab. kida ghetto but a y7 dizzy wont bolt to a z6 head

dude i just did this same swap last month. 96 EK y7 block, z6 head, y7 cam gear, non vtec comp, vtec controller, all you have to do is reuse your y7 timing belt, set your timing on TDC not one tooth forward or back. stick your y7 dizzy guts in a z6 dizzy housing, and thats it. hope this helps

did you time the car after putting in the swap? is the cam gear on TDC? (not one tooth advanced or one tooth retarded) and reset ecu (radio fuse in fuse box by the battery). the y7 gear is about half a tooth off from a z6 gear. i hear its recomended to use a adjustable cam gear in this application but i didnt. my vtec works fine. when vtec engages at about 5100 it shoots to the top fast. i also have a jetchip ecu. is it possible that the stock ecu runs too lean for vtec engagement? i have no other ideas. one crazy idea, what if you used a jackson racing ruel enrichment relay and fuel pressure regulator??? would this help with the lean mixture?? can anyone answer this? hope this helps..
