The K20A3 in the EP3 doesn't have "real" vtec. It only has variable cam timing. A whole write up on the K series was in the September issue of Honda Tuning. If you can't get that then do a search or something. Anyways that's why you don't feel anything it's cause there isn't vtec only VTC.

well the vtec on the civic si and rsx bas models are not really vtec at all. plus, your really not supposed to feel vtec on a properly tuned car.

all your motor does is when it is at 2300 RPM, it opens up the last set of valves. this is economy vtec. a true vtec is when the rocker arms lock so that it runs off of the thicker, bigger, and all around more powerful vtec lobes. your motor lacks this.

2200rpm.

ep3's have a VTEC system similar to VTEC-E.

it's economy vtec.

one-sided. kicks in 3 different times. still giving you a smoother transition up to the powerband. a completely different vtec mechanism. now that i thought about it. for a one-sided vtec, it does well against its brethren EM1.

if it redlines him at 6200 then either his tach is off or that ecu is not for an H22.

btw - I'm assuming "redline" is fuel cutoff.

If you have vtec why shouldnt you feel it? Its like saying i have Turbo in my car with no blow off.. Anyways the Vtec sound is beautiful and a cai would help make it louder and better.

not if you have a system similar to VTEC-E (EP3 iVTEC)... transition is not that obvious and is not as beautiful as the "everyone knows" VTEC.

actually the transition is pretty much non existent. cause there is no cam changeover. VTEC-E only opens the intake valve more.
