Like it says, i called extrememotorsports and they quoted me 4-4500$ to rebuild my motor. I have a d16z6 turbo and the rings are shot and i'm blowin blue smoke. people tell me that doing a complete swap is better/cheaper but i'm tryin to get away from stock internals because i have a turbo...My price range is like 1-1500$... What would you do???

Damn.

Umm...for that price, just get another stock block and save yourself a few thousand.

that price is insane!! you can rebuild it yourself w/ sleaved block, aftermarket rods and pistons etc . for like 1500 bucks.

Give Mike a call at TSR in Glen Burnie. He does great work and is very reasonable about labor and parts pricing. Besides Extreme is a DSM shop.

Yeah man, that's WAAAAY too much money, that's nuts. I had my B18C1 built to 12:1 compression with Wiseco pistons, block bored and honed, all new seals and gaskets - $950 in labor for the entire job.

I have vtec. I like my motor(d16z6 vtec @130hp) and would like to keep it.. Insted of replacing it i'd rather replace the piston, rings and rods. How much more of a job is that then just replacing the motor..?I'm far from rich guys so help me make this decision.

okay, one thing you can do is pull your motor out yourself, buy a "re-ring kit" which consists of every gasket/seal/bearing/etc. that you need to redo your block/head. then take your head off of the motor (which is really simple). if you have any questions you can invest in a good helms manual to help you in the step by step removal of EVERYTHING. then you pay for a machine shop to bore/rehone your sleeves. and then put everything back together. how much will this cost you say????

removal of motor: free
helms manual: $50
re-ring kit: $350
new pistons: $400
new rods: $375
labor for work on block: $200 at most
put motor back together: free
tuning car for higher boost: depends on who you know
driving around with 20lbs of boost: priceless!!!

at the end of the week, you end up spending about $1375. so you will be able to do all of that for under $1500, which leaves you extra cash for better pistons if you want or whatever you want. its always best to do all of the timely work yourself, that way you dont have to pay anyone else for their time. im sure you know some friends that can help you, ****...thats what friends are for huh. got any questions????? hit me up
