d17 into eg?
i plan on using a d17 out the new civic for my racemotor.
it going to go into my 94 ex
question being has anyone swaped one into a eg chassis?
this is gonna be for my race/street machine so modification to anything is cool!
has anyone turbocharged one of these motor in the newer civics?
the motor seems to be a realy good start, 1.7 , coil on plug, and what not
any info on this subject would be cool

Plan on using the complete harness from the D17. I suppose you could use the EG harness, but you'd have to run a separate subharness for the ignition system (and possibly other things) and you'd absolutely positively have to run an EMS.
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to increase the displacement of a 1.6?

i want to utilize the newest D series out there being that it probly the best D series motor out there, not just cause the dispacment fact which ill probly destroke to a 1.5 or so but it has coil on plug and other lil features that are sweet!
so noone has ever thought about putting honda's newest D into a better chassis?
this motor seem to be a good canidate for a race motor allready having coil on plug and all?
anyone with any info???????????????

its not just the cdi its the whole concept of using the lastest most up to date motor
if honda changed the design abit i bet it was for a good reason and it was probly an improvment
as for the stand alone ill most likly be running a motec for the race setup

Then you should reasearch these "improvements" and see if they outweigh the obstacles of putting a d17 into an eg... Don't choose a motor just because it is new...

if you do get the D17 make sure you get the D17a2 Vtec for allmotor because it has high comp. and use the tranny from it to shorter gears. If you plan on F/I go with the D17a1 block and D17a2 head for a good balance of high and low comp, but stick with the D17a2 tranny. the tranny in the d17a1 lags a lot in 2nd gear but has good topend pull though
