Default Ring end gap done, but have ?'s, need opinion

This is for a B18c, 9.5:1 comp, 15 psi engine with JE 81.5mm pistons and Eagle rods. I got my rod bearing check all done, greens all cameup with about .015 clearence with the plastigage, which I am happy with, real soft break in, but should last long. If that sounds too tight, make a suggestion, please. But my concern is my ring end gap. I have been reading and getting opinions from builders and JE, and I wanted to see if anyone here, who does this, not read someones post, can give me some input. I have all my top rings gapped at .018-.019, which is fine by me. But my second rings came up .023-.024, a little big I would think. .022 was max in my head. But these second rings arent even filed, thats how they were right out of the box. Now I have read some things saying that bigger gap will relieve pressure in between the two, but i dont want it to be to the point where this thing will smoke. Its a street car, daily driven, and shooting for 350 to the wheels. If any OG builders have input, please fire away, I'm all ears.

You will be fine with that middle gap. Most middle rings from Japan are coming that loose now.
On your rod clearance, I hope you meant .0015" and not .015" or your motor will clang like the Bells of St. Mary

Yes, .0015, typo there. And i will be assembling it tomorow if you say the gaps are fine. Just want to be positive, thanks Earl.

One other thing, would it be fine to put the top gap at 3:00 and the second ring gap at 9:00 in the cylinder.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JDMJoel &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">One other thing, would it be fine to put the top gap at 3:00 and the second ring gap at 9:00 in the cylinder.</TD></TR></TABLE>

why would you not want to follow the diagram in the helms manual?
