Default anybody polished/paint theres?

valve cover- ive posted this in a/c too but i havent seen many h22 ones

ok i stripped down my valve cover with aircraft remover. found quite a bit of diff grits at my house, 180/320/600/800/1000/1500 thinking about go out and buying 2000 grit (anyone have any pics of 2000grit polished?)

my question is what kind of polish is better, i saw a member on here using mothers mag&aluminum polish and other ppl saying to get a rubbing compound?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by OneThirtyEight &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Start out coarse and move your way to finer and finer grits. Once you do not have "scratches" in it anymore you need to hit it up with an electric buffing wheel and some rouge if you want it a "mirror finish".

Alum polish is for after its done to clean it and remove oxidation with. A rubbing compound is simliar to rouge and would also probably work but a machine will polish it so much faster. </TD></TR></TABLE>

thanks man but what is rouge? where can i buy it/how much? i know it will take long, but can i do the rouge and polish part by hand? i did some testing on a old valve cover with just sanding it and aluminum polish and it looks ok so far, but not the "mirror finish" i want

EDIT: Wet sand once you get to the finest grit.</TD></TR></TABLE>

oh i was told to wetsand every grit. is it where you dip the sand paper in the cup of water and soap and then sand for a bit, then dip again and sand again?

i painted mine silver. it was pained red before and i just got some of that paint remover...That was a pain getting the old paint off, but i just spray painted it silver and put it back on. Turned out pretty good. simple job.. As far as polising..a drimel tool is a must for getting in all the small nooks and crannys. You will only get the high shine with an electric or air controlled buffer

i dont think you need soap and water to wet sand it. I just got an old spray bottle and filled it with water and just spray to keep it wet.

spoon powdercoats OEM Type R valve covers their specific yellow. to get a brand new OEM valve cover and get it powder coated any color would be about the same as the price of the spoon, so just get the spoon

to get all of the old paint off you just use aircraft stripper. spray it on very thick, leave for 30 minutes then spray it off with a hose. now its bare metal.

If you add soap to the water when you wetsand, it helps clean off the metal and better prepares it to accept new paint. If you plan to just polish it, the soap isn't needed.

for the prelude? you cant. read again. spoon powdercoats oem TYPE R valve covers. you dont have a type R engine do you? or a B16? then it wont fit. JUN is the only one that loves the lude, and they dont do bling.

it depends on the car, the ITB (individual throttle bodies), also what you are tuning with.

if they are a good ITB and a well built engine then you can make serious power. but they are not cheap by any means. those are toda ITB's. TWM makes them for the H22 but they run about 1300 bucks. then you need other things to make it work.
