what do i need to know before getting rod and main bearings??
i'm rebuilding my h22 with new rods and had me crank balance. i alos had the machine shop that balance the crank check the rod clearance and they said that the oem rod bearings will be be good to use with my crower rods. my question is that when i order the bearings, can i just tell them which engine i need them them for and get the right bearings?? if not what do i need to know?? i'm getting honda bearings.
ok, when putting in new rod bearings, always check your clearances. Its a good idea to do this because spinning a rod blows. how do you do this? torque your end caps down to spec with the bearings installed. use plastigue between the main journal and the bearing. un torque the bolts and use the included guage to measure your clearance. should be around ~.015 on an inch.
or instead of plastigage you could also use a feeler gauge just my .02 cents, also if the main caps are aligned and bored properly and the clearance is off you could get oversized bearings if the clearance is to great or undersized bearings it the clearance is to small
still havn't answer my questions. the clearance are in spec from what i was told from the machine guy, so do i just go and order it for a h22 or do i need to know number codes or something???
