Default Please clairfy on Crome!!!

Ok, is it jsut editing software, or does it require an actual add on box like Hondata? I've heard ALOT of people drop the name, but I haven't really found any solid info on it. I'll be honest though....I didn't do an in depth search cause I am friggin exhasuted.

It is an eprom editor just like ubderdata. It does not require anything besides a comptable ecu.

Socketed ecus & chipped ecus using crome, hondata, uberdata etc.

Is the CTR ECU compatible?

Also I am not familiar with Uberdata. All I have used is Hondata and various vtec controlers.

You must use a obd1 ecu such as a p28, p72 etc.

yeah if you already have a socketed ECU (lots of people have them with generic chips such as Mugen, skunk, etc. in the socket) crome writes a file that just gets burned to a chip and you stick the chip in the socket.

Just got my allmotor LS/VTEC tuned with crome and its running like a champ. I'm glad I didn't spend a crapload of money on Hondata!

i believe pgmfi.org would be the easiest place to get. we use crome pro now and did some basic tuning for idle last night. from what i can see it does EVERYTHING that hondata does but for free.
we dont use uberdata either cause it seems like its always having problems of one reason or another. turboedit and crome.

SO you just use a laptop with a serial adaptor to interface with the computer?

But that website has a ton of info and I will be using crome also. I hear it has more options/functions than uberdata.

Its not really a trade secret. Anyone can download the software, how well you use it to tune a vehicle is another story.

I don't think he means trade secrets by software, but how we use it......not just anyone can jump in and use the software and have great success with it. You have to understand the software and understand the principles of tuning an engine....

you think the guy that thinks he knows how to tune a vafc is going to know exactly what to do with a crome.....

don't forget that you have to have more than just a laptop and an ecu to use crome......

Chad, you know we are more then happy to help you out if you need something tuned...just call us a day ahead...not an hour!

You cant just hook up with a serial adapter and think your gonna modify timing and fuel tables. You need a socketed obd-1 ecu. "Socketed" means thats its setup to accept eprom chips that you write with an eprom burner.

low end eprom burners can be had for $50 give or take. Then you will need chips, everytime u want to change something, u need another chip, (or use reflashables)
