I have a 99 civic si basically stock and i want to get hondata chip for my car. I dont know what ecu comes in stock 99-00 si's but people been telling me i would have to get a p28 ecu. is that correct? and the reason being why?
and another thing is which ecu does a 99 si run? cuz if i had to get a p28 i know that my brother has a spare one, but i havent talked to him about the difference.

The big reason you see the P28 a lot is because it's kind of the brand name of Honda ECU's. It was the all popular dominant Civic tuning ECU. Until people found out that you could take a $50 P06 and have it run the same as a $100 P28. The P28 is the McDonalds of Honda ECU's, Everyone's heard of it, but it's not always the best for every situation

ive done it many times too but when u tell someone u have a po6 converted to vtec for some odd reson they dont want it,they want a p28.so thats where i got smart and put po6 board in a p28 case.
