Self-Learning EMS? Is there such a thing? Why not?
I have been doing some street tuning lately and studying my maps etc...
I was looking at my data logs and since I am running in closed loop my AFR cycles around Stoic if I'm at less than 80% or whatever like it should...
I started thinking....
Hmmm... if the stock computer can do this, why isn't there an EMS that can read a wideband value and supply the correct amount of fuel to reach a desired AFR?
We have all seen the "golden rule" that shows the optimal AFRs for different boost levels. Wouldn't it be nice if you could type that into your EMS and it would automatically target that AFR for you?
Instead, we have to manually look at the AFR and adjust the maps accordingly.
Anyways, just wondering if there is an EMS out there that does this... what do you think?

I've been wondering this for quite some time now as well. I mean, at least someone could make some sort of prototype right? Even if you have to use a laptop in your car at all times in the early stages, it'd DEFINITLY be worth it!

Neptune does not do this...neither does Uberdata or hondata. The Autotune is just a way to reach those golden values, but it not adjustable by Wideabnd values alone. I know AEM EMS does it as well as correct for IAT, but I don't know any others
Sweet... I didn't know such a thing existed..
So, you can tell the EMS that you want 12:1 AFR from 3-10lbs of boost etc. and it automatically can read the AFR and supply the correct amount of fuel? Kick ***!
How much are they? Super expensive?

Autronic does as far as i know, not sure which versions, i think just plug and plays.
we have it on our EVO and seems to work decent.
We drove it to the dyno in houston and left the auto tune on for the drive there to try and minimize some time on the dyno, seemed to help quite a bit.
Had to vary the load on the car to keep it moving throughout the cells.

You know what I have tuned quite a few EMS with a autotune feature, but honestly I never use it. The AEM, Autronic , and etc..have this feature and it works great. But just like Art said, most tuners can tune faster and more efficient than the autotune.
