Help please: What is this "rod" next to the axle?
Sorry for the vague title, I wasn't sure how to word it...
This is on a 1992 Prelude SI (5MT)
Anyways, I was recently rotating my tires and noticed that I had torn boots on the part in question.
I'll try to describe the location:
Say you were looking at the face of the driver's side front rotor... there's the axle behind it... and just to the right of the axle, there's a shorter/skinnier looking version of an axle... what is that called, or what is the part number? I tried looking on hondaautomotiveparts.com, but they only had the axles in their database.
I noticed both "axles" on the front had torn boots. Should I replace the whole part? Would these torn boots cause anything, such as vibrations in the steering wheel?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

do you mean your steering rack? have someone turn the wheel while you look at this part. if so, then torn boots really doesn't mean much.
