Default just changed head gasket car hard to start???

I just changed my head gasket yesterday and tecar runs great. but the problem is that it doesn't want to start. I have to turn it over for about 10-15 seconds with the gas at full trottle to start it. any suggestions wouldbe appreciated. I was thinking maybe I lost compression and it's building it up before it can start. I don't know if anyting else would get messed up when a car overheats or not???

Could be anything from an unplugged sensor to your cams not timed properly. You need to recheck you work.

I haven't done a compression test yet. and I don't tink anything is unplugged. but i'll recheck my work. I haven't driven it yet either but I let it run in the drive way for an hour and it never over heated andran good I turned it off and went to restart it ad it is just not wanting to start good. no cel or anything. I am thiking about driving it to work tonight and see if the bugs will get worked out of it. by driving it.

Check your fuel pressure. Maybe your leaking fuel into the intake causing an extended crank condition.

set the timing to factory spec. first take off the timing belt, just on the cam gear. then find TDC(top dead center) on the number one piston, the one that is by the distributor. Then on the cam gear you will see a little notch engraved in it. line this notch up with the plactic notch that sticks upward(this is located on the protective cover right under and too the left of the cam gear). put the timing belt back on, and this should hopefully solve your problem

I am going to do a compression test here in a minute. leaking injectors sound like a possibility because of the heat it was under. I think the timing is right because I marked it in three spots when I took it off.

did the compression test and yeah it's screwed. clinder 1 = 83 2 = 65 3 = 45 4 = 72.
so I am ooking for a obd 2 d series in middle tennessee for cheap just my daily driver.

Was it running before you parked it? The timing is probably just way off. I'd check and re check that. D-series timing belts are easy after you do it a few times. I'd just hope that the timing wasn't so far off that you gracefully introduced your valves to your pistons.

do you think thats why my compression is low because of the timing it was over heated for about ten minutes then the gasket blew. I found a y8 for 300 but I'm gonna check the timing any way before I change the motor.

Sound like you bent some valves slightly. If they dont seat 100% it will idle rough but run ok at higher RPM's.
