i noticed as i had my car on a lift that the axle housing the driver side axle slides through looks like it almost caught on fire like it seized up in there. Is there a bearing inside that housing? heres a link with a digram of what im talking about. Its number #18 on the diagram:

comments and suggestions are needed as i am about to replace axles and install a new input shaft bearing.

yes i think there is a bearing in there.

 

im looking at the diagram and it looks like the only bearing that would be in there would be the actual one on the half shaft. can anynone confirm?

 

bump can u change the bearing on a b series half shaft? looks like its burning up the housing with the 3 bolts that it slides into

Bearing #22? Yeah you can change it. Might need a press or bearing remover.
