Default HKS exhaust fitment

I just got a brand new HKS exhaust installed on my '02.

Turns out the left muffler is pointing about .5" off-center in the horizontal direction to the wheel side whereas the right muffler is perfectly dead center (visually looking at the area around it with the bumper).

Is this a common thing or should I get it adjusted? Installer said he couldn't budge it, but I'm thinking you can fiddle with the rubberbands and tighten down accordingly.

It's visually noticeable.

ummm.. you installer sucks.. i got the hks and mine fits perfect......

just mess around with the hangers and the rubber thingis.... the rubber things can move when you put some force against it... and it should straighten out....

Just spray some lube in the rubber hangers and it should hang naturally.

I know the Fujitsubo has one muffler tip that sticks out .5" further than the other so anything is possible.

So all I have to tell him is mess with the rubber thingies for the left side muffler that's off?

How to mess with it exactly? Right side is perfect.

It may be stuck in a position that is not allowing it to sit normally. Take a look at the hangers and see if any of them look weird. It helps to spray some WD40 into the holes so that they can move freely.

So VTEC, you think beanolo is right or 03S2k?

Adjustable or not?

HKS is a big company that puts out consistent products. They all should fit the same; it would be unlikely that a few of them are uneven while others are even. Like 03s2kblue said, it may be an install issue.

But like I said earlier, spray some WD40 where the hanger goes through the "rubberband" so the exhaust can rest naturally. If the "rubberbands" are too stiff\dry then it may hold the exhaust in an uneven way.

it's either i'm right.. or your exhaust is a freak... i have an HKS.... do a search on here for it.... it's got a full write up on install......

you'll probably have to mess with the hangers on both sides...to even it out...

Mine hangs fine also, LOL

When I had it intially installed, the one side was lower than the other. We loosened the bolts again and I held the mufflers where I wanted it, and than tightened it. That fixed my problem.

So I had my Honda guy take a look at it. From what he and I can see, the rubber bushings are sitting as naturally as could be.

If I move the left side to the right, then the entire exhaust moves to the right which includes the right muffler.

So I can't see how the rubberband things can themselves me holding the left side out of whack. They're hanging freely. It's more like the entire exhaust is setup that way. are you sure your tips are aligned perfectly on center?

????

i'm pretty sure they are perfect.... or at least not noticeable like yours.... you have to work with the hangers on both sides in order to get the mufflers aligned with eachother...... a little movement here a little movement there and it should eventually become even...

You recommend that we undo the bolts while we're fumbling with the rubber thingies?

I don't necessarily like the mods that much but for the Honda crowd, it's not bad.
