Default Odometer question

friend just swapped his hatch with a b16 well about 2 months ago, and kept his stock gauge cluster and has been keeping track of the motor miles by just adding im sure you all knwo what im talking about, but he got an Si cluster know to keep up with the R's the b16 pulls compared to his D series, the stock cluster only went up to like 8000 rpms i belives well thats what his car redlines is roughly and he wants to put thw Si cluster in now, and want to keep the miles on his stock odometer on the SI cluster( the chassis miles), can you just spin those numbe ron the Odometer to the miles you need with out breaking anyhting, cause he doesnt want any odometer fraud bullshit
