s2000 engine into a 95 civic ??
This kid was braging how my gsr is so slow and that his project car will run 10's.
Of course i brushed the kid off but it got me wondering is it possible to drop the s2000 engine into a civic.
what kind of problems would this have/has it been done.

well, its not possible yet. being a RWD engine, it takes a lot of fabrication. a couple people have the engine mounted in the car, but not running...yet. this is from what i've read, so if anybody can show proof of this project in running condition, chime in.
is that what the kid said he has? don't believe that ****.

even if the dumb kid had a running s2000 engine in his civic, the amount of fabrication and added weight he would need much much much more than the 240hp and 150tq that the s2k engine has to run a 10 second quarter.
well actually i have heard the k series trannies which are FWD bolt up to the f20c s2000 motor. and i here f series and h series mounts for EGs are the same mounts so possibly a k20 tranny, s2000 motor and k and h series mounts and some hopes and dream and it could possibly be done but you might as well just drop in a k20.
but realistically, nope.

The kid is just a stunna. Ignore him.
Yes, it has been done, several different ways (RWD w/ S2k drivetrain, FWD w/ K-series manual trans, FWD w/ GM auto trans).
No, it will not run 10s without some serious money invested.
The S2000 engine is nothing special, and not worth the extra fabrication vs. a K20A2/K20Z1/K20A Spec-R swap. You can easily get 240+ hp from a K20, and there are easy bolt-in mount kits already made to swap this engine.

The K20 transmission will not bolt up directly. A custom adapter plate is still required to mate the two. Prototype Racing made their own adapter plate and got the combo to work (both F20C1/F22C1 and K-series engines spin clockwise).
As for F/H mounts, the F20C1/F22C1 is completely different from any other F/H-series engine, so the existing F/H mounts will not work. The S2000 engine is obviously configured for logitudinal orientation in an FR car, so it doesn't have mounting brackets in the right locations for FF transverse mounting. Some sort of custom fabrication would be required.

You guys are right, anything is possible. If people are swapping skyline engines into rx-7's, it's very much believable it can be done.................... please send pics if any boddy has some.

An s2K engine has already been dropped into a 5th gen' Civic hatch about a couple years ago up in Canada, and yes, it's fully running/operational.
If only I wasn't in the process of relocating, I'd post the pictures from my computer. But you can hold me to this.

I d ont understan why no one though of this with all the LS VTEC masterminds and B20 VTEC etc etc

the s2000 went from a 2.0 L to a 2.2 L in 2004(maybe 2003). so yeah its an f22(not sure about the entire engine code)

why do you modify a slow *** FWD economy car in the first place? cuz its a challenge.
fwd is crippled by the laws of gravity, whenever you take off, the weight transfer is to the rear... converting a civic to RWD would be even more of a challenge, and once completed, would create quite a sense of accomplishment.

bla bla bla stfu. 2.2 S2k motor is also called an F20 F22 depending on year.
Silver Civic Coupe also has an s2k but its a drag car.
1 street EG I kept a picture of a while ago.

For the amount of money it takes to put an s2k motor into a civic, you could use it toward a GSR turbo setup or an h22 turbo setup. It's not worth it but hell you'd be unique once completed.

Why? For the cost of the fab work alone you could build a streetable, 10-second, K-series turbo EG.

There is an EK coupe in Canda that has a S2000 motor in it. I cant rember who built it though. I think it ran 10's w/ a shot of nitous on the stock motor. It was also posted here on HT at one point,
