Can I use a 96-98 Civic LX tranny case with the internals of a D16Z6 tranny??
I shaddered my shift fork in my D16Z6 tranny and when I did that I guess it shot out and broke part of my tranny case inside... So I picked up a 96-98 Civic LX tranny and I'm just wondering if I can change over all the gears inside of my D16Z6 into the LX tranny case??? And will the LX tranny case bolt up to my D16Z6 motor??
Internal Differences
There are some minor differences, mainly with the bearings inside the trannys. The diff bearings, countershaft bearings, and input shaft bearings are different between the DX/CX/VX casings and the EX/Si casings. If you are putting a EX/Si gearset into a DX/CX/VX casing, you have to use the second countershaft bearing and the differential of the case you are swapping into.
NOTE The bolts for the ring gear are lefthanded thread.
AND you have to disassemble the mainshaft and re-shim it, which is a royal pain in the ***. So, IMHO don't do it.

I appreciate your quick responses... Would you happen to know the measurments of the D16z6 shaft and the LX shaft??

in regards to Bauley, yea hes right. For the cost and effort of doing that, it might probably be cheaper to get another Z6 tranny off of ebay or at a junkyard. So yes, its doable, but its gonna be a total pain. Ive seen someone yell at a tranny workin 2 days straight cause he was swapping cases. If you do it, set aside time, be ready, and Id reccomend upgrading anything now, as overhauls are time consuming. (reccomend upgrading to y8 forks)
